Good Morning to you! Most of my mornings I find myself flying around the house like a hummingbird on speed, but today I find myself surround by silence. I am quite fond of these moments. I have been reunited with my coffee (made the way I prefer it) and I have some "ME" time to spend.
By now most of you know what I do for a living and if you don't, you know now - I organize and stage homes. So with that said, I sat in my comfy chair sipping my cup of happiness and thought about something I'd never thought about until now. Why does every home have a junk something? Whether it be a closet, drawer, bedroom or garage, every home has one.
I'm not totally organized, I myself have a drawer of misfits. I guess my thought was why? Why don't these things have a proper home? How is it that this stuff made it to this drawer. I picked my butt up from the comforts of coziness and went to that said drawer to solve this problem.
In my little drawer of madness, I found a box of nails that will now reside in the shed next to it's ol' friend the hammer. Pens without lids or are no longer working. They will find happiness in the desk and the ones less fortunate wrote their last word. Now, don't get me wrong there are items that really don't have a place to call home and need a make shift place to land.
For example, where in the world would you put little light bulbs, batteries of all sizes, chargers for multiple toys, the dogs vitamins (so not to be consumed by a human), menus and the many many packets of Soy Sauce (because the bottle in the frig doesn't travel well). If these things have a purpose and we hang on to them ~ Why do we call them junk or place them in a drawer with that same label.
I reorganized my drawer and have since renamed it to "Miscellaneous Mayhem". What's in your Junk Drawer????
See what happens when I have too much time on my hands. Hoping your Today and Everyday thereafter treats you well! Take care and enjoy :0)

I have mopre than 1 of those drawers I am sorry to say. I want to thank you for your kind words on my blog. Lucy
You organize homes for a living? How neat! That was one of my resolutions. We have a junk drawer attached to a junk cab. It started out being the girls misc coloring books/hair stuff, now sadly has papers, junk, and stuff. I want to tackle it soon!!
Cool, nothern or southern? I'm in the cincinnati tri-state area.
northern i swear i can spell, haha
I refuse to call anything a "junk". If it's junk, it goes in the garbage when I finally recognize it for what it is:).....
my widget, gizmos, gadgets, thingabobs, doohickies, whats that?, string, cables, batteries, tape measurer, backs of earrings, erasers...might need this, all unecessary hardware until I need it hardward draw is at my desk near our kitchen....I couldnt live without it...and if I tried to organize it I wouldnt be able to find a thing, or widget, gizmo....etc.....lol :)
A hummingbird on speed. ROFLMAO!!!!
I have several friends that read your blog and love it. I had to come see for myself. You are one writer that takes the positive things in life and make them funnier than hell. I will say I'm gonna follow too.
Glad you had a quiet morning. They are a wonderful blessing. I didn't know til now as I'm new to reading your journal what you did. That would take alot of work organizing others homes. You'll have to share some tips for all of us unorganized people sometime.

In my junk drawer? useful stuff? Honestly 3 rolls of tape, twist ties, screwdrivers, saran wrap, foil and I'm not looking to see what's hiding under all that stuff
*winks*. I have a small house too, in these confines it's near impossible for everything to have it's own place. (Hugs)Indigo
I have a junk drawer in my kitchen. Everyone's gotta have a junk drawer! LOL
Oh, I have all kinds of stuff, with a concentration on pens, which are one of my weaknesses. At least I put little dividers in there, so that helps keep it in controlled chaos, and I mostly know what I have in there!
my cellar is where i hide the bodies
Batteries, tape, balloons, decks of cards, thumb tacks....all sorts of crazy stuff. LOL
Ugh, I tend to have a junk roon and a junk drawer. The drawer is filled with batteries and things that my children won't part with. The room gets everything that no one can part with at the moment. Both have been cleaned out several times over the past few years but fill up again. LOL...I definitely will need a stager when I sell this house. HUGS
Hmm... I have an odds and ends drawer in the kitchen. Tape-so I don't have to walk all the way to the desk in the other room, an electrical adapter for when I need to plug my laptop in at the kitchen table, twist ties for the bread bags that have that stupid tape that you can never line back up, scissors(2 different sizes) so that I don't have to go to the sewing box in the bedroom, a plastic something or other(I didn't put it there, so I can't throw it away-I don't know what it's for), batteries, and several other items that are handy to have in a central location. Basically because I can be extremely lazy!
:) Leigh
mines in the kitchen and has screw drivers, nails, velcro etc etc lol. gotta have a junk draw! have a good day. hugs
Oh how I wish you'd come here for a week! We'd have to do it in the Spring. We'd throw everything out on the lawn like they do on TV and only bring in what is absolutely necessary and sell, trash or donate the rest!! It's funny, because my vacation home in Tn only has what I need and I routinely take things I don't want anymore to charity. Our HOME here is outta control and it seems to be an elephant that I find overwhelming. Arrrrgggh! Can you be my new best friend forever so you will have to come to California for a visit? LOL! Lisa
Just maybe things are going to get better. I do so appreciate your kind remarks. We have been in and out of ach others Journals for a quite a long time. Lucy
