As I sit on my sons bed to write this entry, I am comforted by the smell of his room. I look around and never once had it crossed my mind that 7 1/2 years ago when I placed those socks over his tiny little hands to keep him from scratching that lil bitty face would I ever imagine him having a fetish or such a love for socks. It's a serious matter when the washer or it's culprit eat one of these socks. A few years back my son (we'll call Rye) ask if we could feed these said appliances something other than his socks, like a washcloth or dads underwear (burp).
When asked what he wants for his birthday or Christmas, socks always make the list. It became a fun thing for family and friends to find and send him these treasured gifts from all over the world. No sock goes without a purpose as he has many uses for this love.
When going through his room to remove the old so to bring in the new I found a small baggie full of what I thought was lint. NOT... as Rye proceeds to tell me "No mom, ya know that stuff between your toes when you take off your socks - It's what's leftover when my socks are shedding". Oh the innocent mind of a child.
His socks have been used as bath mitten, face mask for his action figures, even winter coats for his light bulbs. But........The best story of all was when I was in Texas on business, Rye stayed behind due to school. When I got to my hotel to unpack I found a lil sock in my briefcase.
I called home to check in and to hear that little voice say goodnight. He asked me if I saw the gift he sent along with my laptop? I asked if he missed me, "A little bit Mom, but I sure do miss that SOCK!!!! ~ Oh it's good to be me!
My Monday is filled with new things to look forward to ~ Hoping your Monday treats you well. Stay warm, be happy and enjoy!

How sweet of him to put that sock in your brief case. OK, now why didn't you drop by to visit me while you were in Texas :)........
While on the topic of socks. I just bought some of those sock slippers..you know the socks you wear around the house but would never wear with shoes...super soft.
It's that time again!
That's just sweet. Plain and simple. :)
XOXO
Oh that was the sweetest entry! What memories you all will have due to this child's little sock fetish! Blessings! Lisa
very sweet!!
My first thought when I saw the socks was:
those are Sunday socks...
they are holy!
How cute! Thanks for adding this for the strange shots challenge :-)
ohhhhhhh love it. My son on the other hand was very picky about what the inside of his sock felt like. If it had the lumpy fuzz he turned them inside out.. hated that feeling on his feet. LOL aren't kids grand ?
hugs
