Good Monday afternoon to all. I was so looking forward to this past weekend. Mr. Hubs and his spontaneity, Nugget and I had planned a trip to a cabin we found that was available for some relaxation.
Friday, I ran around like a wild boar trying to get everything ready, clothes pack, food organized and all stuffed in a truck that had recently been filled with gas. I wanted to leave early Friday morning but my husband reminded me of the importance of an education. It became just a matter of time before nugget was to get out of school and then we were to hit the road. I received a phone call from the school to inform me that my son had been hurt by another child and that I needed to come to the nurses office immediately. I instantly started shaking, feeling sick to my stomach when I drove (which seemed to take forever) to the school offices.
I could hear my son crying and it was one of those cries like no other. I looked at my son and just below his right eye was a hole. This said child poked my son with a pencil. We got him cleaned up and I took him to the ER. Needless to say, he was quite lucky he didn't loose his eye that day. It was already turning black and blue and with that came a horrible headache. This child didn't want to go anywhere except home and that is right where we spent our weekend. Saturday his eye swelled shut and was still complaining of a headache - Tylenol and a spoonful of mamas love seemed to of done the trick.
Sunday just before we went to church, my dad slipped and fell hitting his head on the concrete. It knocked him out cold and when he came to he began to get sick. He was taken to the emergency where they did a cat scan of his head and neck and a blood draw. No internal injuries were found just a horrible headache and soreness.
After all was said and done we loaded the car with our injured. It was only then I took a deep breath and cried and thought about the "WHAT IF's . Everyone is doing fine and my nerves have settled. The next time we plan a weekend away - I'll just remind everyone that there's just no place like home!
Hoping the beginning of your week treats you well and the rest of your week does the same. Take care of you and yours always.

Oh, that's terrible! I hope your son and Dad are both feeling better by now. What about the kid who poked your son? That is no laughing matter, and you're right--he could have easily lost an eye. I hope the other kid is being dealt with, shall we say.
Hugs, Beth
Goodness you did have a very eventful few days - how is your son feeling today? How does your Dad feel? Very scary when someone slips and hits their head. What is going to happen to the child who poked your son in the eye?? Leene
My mother-in-law always says that nothing bad ever happens which isn't followed by something good. I hope that your "good" comes soon ... and thank goodness that neither your son nor your father were hurt any worse than they were. I'm sending "speedy recovery" thoughts to both of them!

Times like these sure makes us vulnerable, which is exactly why we need to draw closer to God for his strength. My mouth dropped when I read about your son, I couldn't imagine seeing that happen to my son! Poor thing :( I will keep your father and your son in my prayers. Thank you for your comment on my blog, I always look forward to your words of encouragement!
How scary, I am glad your son is ok, and your poor dad.
I hope they expell the punk who poked your son with a pencil.
He could have blinded him.
My nerves would have been shot too.
Take a deep breathe...and just say it is over and all is fine now.
I'm Glad everybody is alright now
Katie, I am so sorry that you had such a horrible weekend and trhank goodness that other child did not make the horrible contact that could have blinded your son in that eye. Yes Katie, we all need to remember how quickly a great daY can turn into a terrible day.
Take care. Lucy
Oh Katie. I'm so glad everybody was okay, but I do hope the boy who hit your son with the pencil was disciplined appropriately. That's just awful!
Thank goodness your son and father are doing just fine...
Thinking of you and yours,
B
what a terrible weekend! I am so glad it wasn't worse. for one, at my children's schools, if they call and say, "come right away" that tells me right there somehting is bad wrong. because they are pretty good at knowing if a parent really does need to come.
and your dad???? oh, that so could have been worse. Of course, you know that, but wow! did you have a migraine after all of that? I would have.
My prayers are with you and yours!
hugs

I sure hope the school is punishing that child for what he did! How is your son's eye today? Poor thing!
Thank goodness your dad is okay too.
What a few days you've had.
Hope the rest of the week goes much better.
So sorry for all the accidents, Katie. I hope they mend soon. Both are just too scary as it could have been worse. Have a much better week:).....
Oh Wow! I would have been freaking out too! That is awful about the pencil around the eye area! Thank the good Lord it was not his eye. Bless his heart with a swollen eye. So glad that the fall was not worse either. Will keep all of you in my prayers. Hugs, Janie
I CANNOT imagine your headache with all this!! My goodness! Praise Jesus. I am so sorry your loved ones are hurting, and hopefully they are healing quickly and painlessly. My dear. My heart just goes out to all of you!
Many prayers for you all-
Amanda
Good Grief! That's A LOT for one weekend....thankfully, our trauma's are every 3 months or so.
So glad every one is fine! Hopefully, the rest of your week will be less stressful~
Hugs through the 'Net~
They say these things come in threes and then you are out of the woods. I do hope nothing else happens! My mama just fell about a week ago. Hit her head and had to go to the ER and have a staple put in her head. It was quite a gash. They did a catscan on her too. No problems detected with it, thank goodness. I didnt realize they did that automatically with anyone over 60, the catscan. I am with Beth, what about the kid that poked your son with that pencil. More like STABBED. All this security in schools now, zero tolerence of weapons. Just goes to show you, anything can be a weapon! I hope that the boys parents were talked to, along with the boy himself. Let us know if you know anything. Curious to know if the school followed up on that. Hugs, Kelly PS, glad your son is going to be okay..poor boy.
Oh My word.Whatever next.I do hope both the wounded soon heal and are back to there normal selves.Prayers being said.I find if I plan there is always something comes along to halt things.Still it could have been much worse.Leys hope the next trip out soewhere proves fruitful.Take Care God Bless Kath xx
Oh no Katie! What a weekend

I hope the student who poked your son with the pencil was disciplined! How terrible!

I hope your little guy is doing better and hope the other child was lectured and more if need be. I have thought of you so often. Lucy
That was a scary weekend. I hope your son's face is healing up nicely now and your dad is doing better.
I agree with Beth I hope the other kid was reprimanded and something was done. Stabbing another kid with a pencil is not exactly stable behavior.
Your in my thoughts dear one, hope the week finds you in better spirits. (Hugs)Indigo
Katie I hope everything is ok. I don't think I have heard how things came out with the other child. Lucy
How awful! Those phone calls from the nurse always turn my stomach. Hope your son and Dad heal quickly. Karen
